A Day in the Life of Pressed Juicery’s CEO: No Bread (Unless in Paris) and No Such Thing as Work-Life Balance

A Day in the Life of Pressed Juicery’s CEO: Justin Nedelman

An inside look at the daily routine of Justin Nedelman, the 48-year-old CEO who lives and breathes intentional wellness.

"For me, there’s no such thing as work-life balance. I believe in work-life integration. When your career aligns with your lifestyle and values, it doesn’t feel like work. It just feels like life."

I started my professional journey as a retail real estate developer. When the 2008 financial crisis hit, I pivoted and co-founded the Eureka Restaurant Group, leading it as CEO until 2021. Pressed Juicery came into my life during a formal CEO search. With my background in wellness, hospitality, and consumer-focused businesses, the fit felt natural. I officially stepped in as CEO in June 2023.

A CEO's Daily Blueprint

4:15 A.M.

Wake Up & Hydrate

I naturally wake up every weekday. My first move? Hydration — a 10-ounce glass of water followed by a 5-ounce Americano or a cold brew from Pressed. That’s all the caffeine I allow myself each day.

4:25 A.M.

Mind & Market

I spend 5 minutes on meditation and breathwork to get centered. Then I review my Whoop data — checking my HRV and resting heart rate — and scan the business headlines, stock market updates, and social media.

4:45 A.M.

Fitness is Non-Negotiable

I’m headed to one of three gyms I belong to. I train with intensity — CrossFit-style workouts, weights, and cardio elements like a weighted vest. Weekends are even more intense. I take one rest day every 7 to 10 days.

6:15 A.M.

Family Comes First

I’m back home. I share a decaf Americano with my wife and help her make breakfast and lunch for our high school-age kids. These quiet mornings with my family are deeply important.

~7:00 A.M.

Strategic Fueling

I practice intermittent fasting, skipping breakfast every third day. On eating days, breakfast is fat and protein forward: a Pressed Greens juice, avocado, grilled fish with salad, or Greek yogurt. I also fast for 24 hours once a week.

8:30 A.M.

Purposeful Office Culture

I’m at the Pressed HQ at least four days a week, believing in-person collaboration is essential for innovation. When not at HQ, I'm visiting our stores or manufacturing facilities. Every minute is scheduled—no surprise calls.

6:30 P.M.

Evening: Family, Fitness, and Recovery

I aim to be home for family dinner — meals focused on protein and veggies. On Thursdays, I play tennis with my wife, followed by sauna time. Fridays are for ocean swims with my son. Fitness is fun.

9:00 P.M.

Winding Down

After dinner, I wind down with a book (currently Elon Musk’s biography) or a show with my wife. I check BBC news for a global perspective, take a Pressed "Calm" shot, and head to bed by 10 p.m.

The Nedelman Principles: A Toolkit for Intentional Living

Justin Nedelman's day is driven by a clear set of principles. Here’s how you can apply his philosophy to your own life.

Practice Work-Life Integration, Not Balance

Instead of trying to separate your work and life into competing buckets, find ways to align your career with your personal values and lifestyle. When your work is an extension of who you are, it feels less like a job and more like a mission.

Pay Yourself First

Notice that his "non-negotiables"—hydration, meditation, fitness, and family time—happen before the workday even begins. Schedule your most important personal priorities first, and let everything else fit in around them.

Be Proactive, Not Reactive

His day is tightly scheduled, with no "surprise calls." This is a powerful strategy to protect his focus. By controlling your calendar, you control your day. Respond to the world on your terms, not on its.

Build in Active Recovery

His evenings and weekends are not just for rest; they are for active recovery like tennis, swimming, and hiking. He understands that fitness is not just about intense workouts, but also about joyful movement and recovery.
